Work out cost per job.
Cost per job = price per lead ÷ share of leads you win. Example only, not a measured rate: at $33.06 a lead, if you win 1 of every 5 you quote, each won job costs about $165 in lead fees.
For painting businesses · Checked 22 October 2026
There is no single price. The sources we checked put a painting lead at roughly $10 to over $100, and about $33 on average for Google's paid local ads. Angi and Thumbtack do not publish their lead prices, so those numbers come from third-party articles.
Prices change by city, season and job size. These are third-party reports, not rate cards.
What the sources say
| Where | What is reported | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Angi Leads | $15 to $85 per lead. Angi does not publish one standard contractor price list. In some markets a lead can reach about $100. | [1] [2] |
| Angi, a job around $300 | About $30 to $35 to access the lead. On a $5,000 job, hundreds of dollars, for a lead that is also sold to other contractors. | [3] |
| Thumbtack | Thumbtack does not share cost data publicly. Pros report $10 to over $100, depending on trade, job size and market. | [4] |
| Google Local Services Ads (painting) | Average $33.06 per charged lead in 2026, up from $32.94 in 2025 (+0.4%). This is Google's paid ad product, from 99 Calls' own campaign data. | [5] |
| PaintingLeads.com | No price is shown. The site says the price depends on your location and asks for a ZIP code. It says you pay only for a valid lead larger than one room. | [6] |
The Angi rows come from third-party articles, not from Angi, and one of them is a 2025 article. Treat it as a guide for what to ask about, not a price you will be charged.
The number that matters
What you really pay is the lead price divided by how often a lead turns into a paid job.
Cost per job = price per lead ÷ share of leads you win. Example only, not a measured rate: at $33.06 a lead, if you win 1 of every 5 you quote, each won job costs about $165 in lead fees.
The EcoHome article says an Angi lead is also sold to other contractors, so you may be one of several quoting the same job. A lead sold to one business is a different product.
The Thumbtack article and the EcoHome article both say bigger jobs cost more. Check that the lead shows the scope before you pay.
Before you pay anyone
Ask how many other businesses get the same request.
On contact, on a valid lead, or only when you buy it?
PaintingLeads.com, for example, says a valid lead is larger than one room. Ask for the rule in writing.
Find out how refunds or credits work before the first charge.
It is easier to skip a job that does not fit when the price is on the request.
How TradeLeo compares
Each available request shows its exact price, scope, ZIP code and timing before you sign up or buy. We do not list a price table here because the price belongs to the request. Check current painting requests.
Once you buy a lead, TradeLeo does not resell it. The homeowner may still contact other painters on their own. A lead is not a guaranteed job.
We start in Temecula, and requests that mention Murrieta can appear. We do not promise a set number of leads. See painting leads in Temecula and Murrieta. Lead services are one of six ways painters find work; the rest are in how to get painting jobs in Southern California.
